Tuscany

Tuscany offers an ideal holiday mix for tourists: magnificent countryside, picturesque villages, exceptional architecture, a rich culture, excellent cuisine, wonderful wines, sunshine, and even beaches and facilities for winter sports. The Etruscans were here first then came the Romans. Both left a treasure trove of archaeological remains behind. Tuscany will always be a top tourist location, even without the promotion of leading politicians and other well-known figures who describe this North Italian region as their favourite holiday area.

Cities like Florence and Pisa are not unknown to the world, their names speak for themselves. But between the mountains and vineyards Tuscany has many more pearls to offer: Siena, Lucca and Arezzo being just a few examples. But there are also Pistoia and the coastline, featuring Livorno and Pisa, which we mentioned earlier. Florence and the other slightly bigger cities are also ideal holiday spots for discovering the countryside and visiting the most beautiful Tuscan villas and gardens.

This fact file takes you on a tour of the enchanting holiday region of Tuscany. Towns and villages, situated in a glorious landscape, all have a power of attraction of their own. And so we devote our full attention to them, and to the region’s great cuisine and wonderful wines, which are bound to enhance your holiday mood here.

Pisa airport
Now it’s true that you can get a cheap flight from Belgium to Pisa, but you have to know that it’s a regional airport. This means that there are not many facilities. When I arrived, I wanted to rent a car but I had not booked it in advance. All counters of the rental agencies were closed. There was nothing else to do than to take the bus to Florence and to rent a car there. There is nothing wrong with the Pisa airport as long as you bear in mind that only the toilets stay open.
