Shopping in Brussels
|
Shopping in Brussels: more than chocolate and lace Brussels has two shopping streets, a fair distance apart: Nieuwstraat and Louizalaan. Louizalaan is the place to be for the big fashion brands, but it is also the least enjoyable to walk around. Nieuwstraat is near to the Brussels North train station. You will find an historic shopping arcade beside Market Square (entrance via Grasmarkt): the Koninginnegalerij is probably the oldest in Europe (1847). Brussels is also a fashion city, and the heart of this activity lies on Dansaertstraat. If a real fashion walk is what you are after it is best to contact the tourist department on Market Square, and you can also find more information from the organisation Modo Bruxellae, Léon Lepagestraat 38, 1000 Brussels. Please take a look at our article on Sunday market day, which is certainly an added bonus on a city trip to Brussels. Brussels has lots of shopping arcades, the closest to the centre being City 2, near the North Station. At the Koekelberg Basilica you will find the Basilix Shopping Center.
