Normandy

Normandy is a magnificent region in NW France. More than 500 km of coast, important places of historic interest, excellent, all-round cuisine, and beautiful buildings and monuments, to name but a few reasons for visiting this nearby area. The main towns are Rouen, Caen, Bayeux, Deauville, Evreux and, of course, Mont-St.-Michel. We will also spend a little time looking at places with famous names, such as Giverny, Vernon, Les Andelys, Lisieux, Honfleur, St.-Lô and so on. The most beautiful coastal belt is probably that around Etretat.

All of the coastline is fascinating and multifaceted. Take, for example, the high rocky coast of Pointe du Hoc. And so we arrive at the landing of 6 June 1944 - a detailed description of this event presently.

Fascinating museums, magnificent countryside and an hospitable people combined with the gems of the local gastronomy: excellent Pont-L'-Evêque cheeses and real Camembert, delicious fish, the highpoint being 'fruits de mer', all washed down with cider, followed by Calvados. The result is a fascinating and unforgettable holiday. Ready to get going?

Travel guides overrate Honfleur
Honfleur actually has a beautiful and picturesque harbour, the centre has that little something special, but that’s about it. It is a nice place to stop by, but not to stay for a few days.

The coastline between Fécamp and Etretat
Thanks for the tip about riding along the coastline between Fécamp and Etretat. Actually, it is really beautiful. We only had a problem finding that small road, the de D11. At first, we drove past it, but eventually we found our way.
