Worth seeing in the Greenwich area
Cutty Sark metro: DLR Cutty Sark This was the fastest sailing ship in the world when it was launched in 1869. But it was overtaken by steam ships not long after. A big fire destroyed this ship in may 2007, during a restauration! The future as an attraction is uncertain.
Royal Observatory metro: DLR Cutty Sark And now we stroll into Greenwich Park. No doubt you will have heard about the Greenwich prime meridian. This is now situated in the park, a line level with the Royal Observatory reminds us of it. You can also visit the former observatory, where you can learn all about the measurement of time. The new observatory was relocated outside London because of the polluted city atmosphere.

National Maritime Museum and Queen's House metro: DLR Cutty Sark The royal family once owned a property here. Only the Queen's House remains. This, together with the Royal Hospital School, forms the National Maritime Museum. This museum tells the story of the English domination of the world’s seas. It takes a modern approach to English maritime history. The collection is enormous and dedicated to a public that loves to explore English history in depth. Needless to say, there is plenty here for seafarers too.
