Pubs and gastronomy in London

Ample choice, with more than 10,000 pubs and restaurants. English pubs are the picture of British tradition. As a tourist you never really know what to expect or how to conduct yourself. But here are a few quick pointers:
> a pub is open from 11 am to 11 pm (Sundays from 12 to 10:30 pm);
> children under 14 are not permitted, unless the pub has a separate area for children;
> order your drinks at the bar and do not shout for attention;
> you may offend the barman if you offer him a tip.

London is a world city, so you can expect to find all kinds of restaurants here. For a quick snack you will find countless snack bars, pubs and self-service restaurants. However, the best known spots can be found in Covent Garden and Soho. Soho is also home to China Town, where, in addition to Chinese restaurants, there are plenty of restaurants offering other national cuisines.
