In total we present 7 towns and 13 chateaux. Needless to say the well-known, well-trampled chateaux of Chambord, Cheverny and Chenonceau are included, but we also present a few lesser-known ones such as Brissac, Chaumont, Villandry, Ussé, ... All of the chateaux are worth visiting, either for their building style, their interior, or their garden. Each chateau has its own story of amorous adventure, conspiracy, beheading and other eventful episodes, which have often had an influence on the course of French history.

History is important in the Loire valley. We will give you a brief run down on why these chateaux were built where they are. And you’ll get the full story of Joan of Arc too. Also, there are scores of events, many of which are sound and light displays. And of course, we’ll pass on a few tips. As you can see, more than enough to bring you to the Loire valley more than once. Rarely are there many places of interest in such a small area. Not only that, but the area is a top culinary region.
