Bavaria
|
To present the free state of Bavaria in one single document is impossible, so we will limit ourselves to its most beautiful spots. Like Munich, the Bavarian Alps in the south of the region are very popular with visitors. It is one of the most beautiful areas in Germany with fabulous views. You can find dozens of places here to daydream. Ludwig II of Bavaria ended up dreaming his life away and had three unforgettable castles built here: Neuschwanstein, Linderhof and Herrenchiemsee. They are of course the top attractions of the region and packs of tourists flock there during the summer months. Still, the Bavarian Alps have many other points of interest: the enchanting Wieskirche, the picturesque Oberammergau, Ettal abbey and Hitler's Kehlsteinhaus.
Munich is not just the capital of Bavaria. It is also the second most important city in Germany. Its many museums, beer culture, shops and lively city centre attract millions of city trippers every year. The international airport makes it very easy to choose Munich as your city trip destination. Today we are still reminded of the rich kingdom Bavaria once was by the historic buildings and enormous treasures in the three Pinacotheken galleries. Munich also has Germany's largest collection of antique art, but it is also a beer city with countless Biergärten (beer gardens) and the famous Oktoberfest. If you want to try Bavaria's unique cuisine, you can go to the Viktualienmarkt.

What is described as a celebration on this web site is a nightmare for those who don’t drink. You drink yourself half-blind or you hide yourself in your hotel room. Hotels are more expensive during the Beer festivals and you have problems finding a quiet restaurant, …
